Classes began last week at 91传媒. A returning sophomore shared his favorite memories of 91传媒 and offered advice to new students.
Thomas Royse, a sophomore business administration major from Simpsonville, said he first heard about 91传媒 during a campus tour. His friend, Ray Danicki, currently a junior at 91传媒, also informed him about the college on the hill.
鈥淩ay always answered any questions I had and gave me a tour of the campus and his residence hall,鈥� Royse said.
Since that first tour, it鈥檚 been a good experience for Royse.
鈥淚 chose 91传媒 because I love the people here,鈥� Royse said. 鈥淓veryone I have met is so friendly and willing to help you in any way they can.鈥�
The distance from home is nice, too, Royse said.
鈥淏eing 30 minutes away from home is nice because it鈥檚 close enough if I ever need something but far enough away that I can be an independent adult,鈥� Royse said.
Royse also works at Main Event in Louisville.
鈥淚 work at the front desk, where I greet customers and explain the deals and specials we have,鈥� Royse said.
Royse has gotten involved on campus, as well, joining the jazz ensemble and the concert choir.
鈥淚 love being able to continue in music even though I鈥檓 not a music major or minor,鈥� Royse said.
His favorite part of his 91传媒 experience has to do with music, occurring during the concert choir spring tour in March.
鈥淎t the end of each performance, all 91传媒 alumni in attendance would come on stage and sing the Alma Mater with us,鈥� Royse said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 amazing how a song can unite a group of people from different cities, generations and backgrounds.鈥�
Finally, Royse offered advice for new students: show up for class.
鈥淵ou can鈥檛 learn anything if you鈥檙e not in class,鈥� Royse said. 鈥淚f you don鈥檛 show up, you definitely won鈥檛 pass the class, either.鈥�
