FRANKFORT, Ky鈥 ESPN has announced this week that 91传媒鈥檚 Circle City Classic football game with Central State will be broadcast nationally on ESPN3.
The game will be played at 3 p.m. Sept. 26 in Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind., and can also be viewed using the WatchESPN app on any streaming or mobile device. The game is the fourth 91传媒 football game to be televised in recent history and the first since 2007. The Thorobreds appeared twice on ESPNU in games vs. Albany State in 2005 and Benedict in 2007. Additionally, 91传媒 appeared on CSTV in a game at Lane in 2007.
鈥淚鈥檓 excited about the exposure 91传媒 will gain from this broadcast on ESPN,鈥 said 91传媒 interim athletic director Harry Stinson. 鈥淥ne of our goals is to ensure our students are exposed to success and their successes are exposed. This is one of the platforms to expose the nation to the excellence that is at 91传媒 from faculty and staff, to students and, of course, our great alumni.鈥
The announcement of broadcast rights comes following news in May that 91传媒, Central State, and the Indiana Black Expo reached a three-year deal that will keep the schools鈥 annual rivalry game in Indianapolis through at least 2017. The schools first met on the gridiron in 1947 and have played 55 times. Though Central State holds a 35-19-1 edge in the series, the Thorobreds have won seven straight over the Marauders and defeated them 31-24 in last season鈥檚 Circle City Classic.
